Traveling with a knife. (HELP!)

Average Joe will by a SAK upon arriving

ya know. That's not a bad idea. Leave the knives at home and buy something when you get there. It would be a nice memory from your trip. Then you wouldn't really have to worry about knives at the airport because you could just mail the new knife home before you leave.

You could cut an opening in the side lining of the luggage and stuck the knife in there and safety pin it to keep it from falling out.

Thank you everyone for the replies. I bought a TSA lock and stuffed my knives in my night bag inside of my checked bag. Hopefully that's enough.

I'll hopefully have pictures and knife content when I get back!

I put my knives in a clear plastic box marked " Tools, Sharp! Edges and Points." and lock it with a TSA lock. Sticky backed "velcro" straps keep the knives from rattling around. The sheaths are elsewhere. I like the idea of removing the scales. Sometimes I leash the box to an inside point with a lead long enough to comfortably lift the box out and inspect it. inside the luggage/pack, put an itemized list of everything in your pack, down to the last toiletry, and make it very visible. If possible, also have the list in the language of the country you are going to. At the very least, tape an itemized list of your knives/ tools inside the plastic box.
