Traveling with your collection

Anyone willing to give up a smidgen of personal liberty for the feeling of safety deserves neither.

Or something along those lines.

Another bit of advice that has been posted on BF is to put the knives in a case with a gun. Then, when you declare the gun at Check-in, the case will be searched and tagged right in front of you. It should be secure after that. So we've been told.

+1! The gun allows you to leave the lock on after they check it in front of you; and they aren't supposed to open it again.

Charter a private jet hand carry all your toys and fly first class you only live once!

You can't take a gun into PR, it's like trying to get one into New York or California.

You have to do and FFL to FFL transfer and then have to wait to receive the permit from the PR gov before you can take possession, up to 4 months.

Good thing is, my wife is from there and her family is kind of celebrity status due to being Roberto Clemente's niece, so the permit part shouldn't be an issues.

Call the airport your traveling out of or TSA...ask them the best route to take...then print it out and take it with you don't want to have any mishaps with the collection...I have traveled with a few from the northeast down south with no issues :D

Mail them to yourself.

Have it signature required and order it held at the receiving post office.

Same thing with guns.

Just don't even bother with the TSA. Half of them want to steal from you, half of them don't know the law, and all of them are completely ineffective.

now, that is a very good idea

Yea we've had stuff broken and misplaced during PCS moves. Just to keep them out of my gun safe, I leave it unlocked so they can open the door and see that it is empty
