Treasures From Jack's Virtual Table

It's been a while since I came across a nice old Lambsfoot, and I'm still waiting for that  This working knife was made by Taylor's Eye Witness. Bexoid covers. Old ones always seem to come with white paint.

You've mentioned that before Jer :) Do you think it was from the inter-War period? From what I've seen of Portobello recently, you'd pay a pretty penny for a Bowie bought round there these days (if that is where it came from)!
Sorry. Pity my grey hairs.
I thought it sounded familiar when I reread it.
That knife still sticks in my craw in part because it was such a ridiculous gift for an elegant and urbane woman.
It's funny the things I don't remember after a lapse of only forty five years. I bought it in a shop, but not in the ironmonger's where I bought the six-inch rosewood. There was a war surplus store I used to browse, so the Bowie might be from there and might have been interwar. Definitely not from the Sword, Armour, and Pistol Shop on Old Marylebone High Street.

That wasn't a criticism! :) I was watching some contemporary footage of the area just the other day Jer. There are still quite a few antique shops, but I dread to think what the prices are like! Even by the late 80's, the area had changed virtually beyond recognition :(

I cleaned up a few more today :)

This is a common-pattern hybrid Clasp Knife, which was made using a blade from the WW1 period knife, and a tin-opener from the WW2 period knife. It's quite a handy pattern, and Joseph Allen & Son made quite a few like this. Rather annoyingly, the nail-nick is a little shallow on the can-opener, which combined with the very heavy pull, makes it rather difficult to open. Covers are chequered compressed fibre.

This John Watts Bartender's Knife, with advertising for Schweppes, is a nice find I think, and is in reasonable condition :)

The doughnut I bought this one off, tried telling me it was a folding straight razor, but it's actually half of a Campaign Set by Singleton & Priestman  A shame I don't have the fork.

hi new to this forum recently started collecting British army clasp knifes . Would any one have a diagram of the S.O.E. Single bladed knife ? I have one with broken release and wanted to see what was missing ?

Also how do you post photos on here can’t find a link above in bar ?
Welcome aboard.

There's a thread for British Army clasp knives that should come up in a search; it might have what you want.

There's an "attach files" button for paying members, but many of us use Imgur or similar image hosting outfit.
