Just got in from Anchorage much poorer than I was when I went in.
Just bought myself three new blades.
BM Dejavoo, American Kami custom, BM fillet knife.
I'm very excited about the Dejavoo. very well made, light weight, comfortable in a variety of grips, and aint nuthin' but blade and handle. I'd go so far as to say that it may even replace my Lonewolf T2 as my favoritest folder ever. So far only cut my arm hair with it though.
I'd never given American Kami stuff a second look until today and made an impulse buy on this one: http://www.americankami.com/DSC02339.jpg I'm really not entirely sure what to do with it. It's very well made, sharp as hell, good lookin'...I've just never used a chisel ground blade for the outdoors. I guess if I can whittle a fuzz stick, cut small trees and baton larger ones, and clean a critter or two with it it then the knife will serve it's purpose. For some reason it is begging to go camping with me this weekend, and halibut fishing next week. Maybe it can fillet a halibut well. Ulu's do, and they're usually chisel ground...any thoughts or experience regarding this one?
Lastly I picked up a Benchmade folding fillet knife. seems kinda cheesy to be honest, but I only bought it to play second fiddle to the fillet knife I'm currently finishing anyways. Should fit nicely in a floatcoat or cargo pocket...
damn. If I spent half as much money actually travelling as I do buying toys I coulda hiked and swam around the world by now....
