Thanks for all the replies. I wouldn't want a chainsaw in the trunk of my cruiser for a couple of reasons. If a tree is blocking a town road it's no big deal, the town crew will be out within 30 min. A state road is a different story. During the midnight shift you will wait at least 2 hrs. for the state highway dept. to respond. I guess I want to justify buying a big chopper or a nice custom hatchet or ax. That Treeman knife looks awesome!

If you're wanting justification for a fun toy, then by all means :D. Do you have a price range?

The ESEE Junglas is a bit larger than the BK9, and a bit better chopper as well. There is also the Condor Boomslang as a larger knife, the upcoming Condor Dundee Bowie (11in blade), or their "Warlock" which is a 12in blade I believe.

You could also go for a custom if you want, but I really have no experience with any custom makers, so I'll defer to others for that.

Look into the himalayan Imports forum. They have some really sick choppers. and from what people say they can make it through trees and branches like butter.

Check out these threads for proof ;)

Theres some good chopping pics on there. Hope that helps you with your decision. Look up any of the HI reviews that Steely_Gunz does and you will see that they are beast blades that can really handle a lot of stuff before there is any issue.

I think you've got the answers regarding right tool for the job.
Just a question that concerns me is -Who's paying?- thats why I suggested cheapo axe over good axe.
If Management is paying get a bloody good one.
cheers .

Hi Tim, you got some great tips so far. The bk 9 is a great knife. I also really love the esee junglas. Both are great choppers with the edge to the junglas in my opinion. I'm over my bandwidth for a couple more days but can post pics die by side or you.

Another option is the becket tac tool. It's not as great a chopper as the other knives, but it is multiple purpose, ie breaching / rescue tool. Handy thing to carry in your cruiser.

Good luck and be safe.
