Was out wandering around a pine forest this morning. Found a Wattle looking slightly out of place with all the Radiata Pine. Figured I could make something out of it at some stage. Unfortunately I didn't have the chainsaw with me. Fortunately... my ESEE-5 was by my side  And you guys have been telling me to beat the crap out of it...

Here's how it all went.

Wow - that look like it took a bit of time and sweat!

Great knife -

It was fun! Took maybe 15-20 minutes. That knife is so heavy it worked like an axe! And it was still so sharp afterwards that when I wiped it on my jeans it put a big slice in the knee!

So, what are you planning for the tree?

There is a creek that runs directly behind where I fell the tree, down a bit of an embankment. I am always up in this forest chasing cows that have got out of our place (our farm is next to this). So next time I am up there (with a chainsaw this time haha) I am going to build a crossing over the creek with it.

Nice work. At first I thought you would be whacking it with a baton, but, I guessed wrong. How's that forearm feeling right about now!! Oh, and sorry about the knee...and the jeans.

Sweet! Great pics. Makes me want to go out and build a shelter out of aspens.

Thanks!

If I am feeling up to it, a shelter is the other option for the tree when I am out there again next week, instead of building the crossing.

We were actually thinking about having a contest like this. Our thoughts were giving away some gear to the person who chops down the largest tree. Al Gore would love us! The minimum size to enter the contest would be at least a 12 inch diameter tree. Largest blade that could be used would be the RC5. More point given if you use an Izula! You also have to submit video to prove you did it all with an ESEE knife. Not sure if we will do this contest but it's a thought. So, be thinking about that 100 year old oak tree in the neighbors yard that's 3 foot in diameter at the base :D
