I am looking for a good book on tree and plant Id. Not only what they are but what they are good for in a survival/ bushcraft manner. Has anyone seen or herd of such a book? All I can find is eddible plant books.
There are a fair number of pretty good field guides on trees for various states and regions. I seldom have read mention of anything in them as to "what they are good for" from a bushcraft or survival perspective.
Yeah that seems to be the general problem. For instance i can find a book that tells me what a willow tree looks like but not that it's bark makes good cordage, or that a cypress tree hold water in the bottom. Or what woods make the best feather sticks.
