Trekking Through Desert Ghost Towns and Dunes

Aaaah fantastic photos!
I really like abandoned towns and buildings, and the atmosphere they breath. You can only imagine the life they had.

Awesome photos Reuben! Among other things I find the bottle building blocks interesting.

Awesome Calico pics! Great saturation and tight composition. Your shots really capture the loneliness of the place.
I hiked thru the Mojave this summer along the PCT but never knew that a ghost town lurked nearby.

Bear, you lead an enviable life! Awesome pics as usual!

The knives, especially the Indio looks very useful too!

For years I have traveled through the deserts of California, Nevada, and Arizona. In all my years I have never seen the Calico Ghost Town or the Dunes of Kelso. I’ve been working pretty hard lately and thought I would take a few days off and get out into the great wide open, the desert.

One of the things you didn't mention is the fact that in some areas of the Mojave Desert, rocks travel on their own. Some of them in that photo seem to have done so. Look at the skid marks behind some of them.

Great thread and pictures. Thanks for posting.
