Trekking Through Desert Ghost Towns and Dunes

It's cool being a federal fugitive, always on the run. Look at all the cool trips you get to go on. Right, Reuben?

If I could offer a suggestion from a former semi-pro photog: Less sand, more chick.

You are right...I have so much to learn still!

Nice shots Bear . Great topography
I've never been to a desert , but sure would like to some time. :)

Awesome photos as usual Reuben. I love the alien (to me) landscape! Your artistic perspective is always great.

That bottle wall is really cool. What is that about though? Light without windows or something else?

Question - in the picture where you say "weird things along the way" - is that what passes for a cairn/trail marker in the desert?

Thanks guys. Regarding the bottle wall and possible trail marker. I can't really be sure and a good part of me doesn't want to know. I like strange things, strange people, strange places, and strange music. Naturally, my eye is going to pick those things out in the world. The funny thing is when I first saw that sand castle/trail marker, I thought it was strange and took two pictures of it. Good thing because on the way back it was destroyed or blown over. That is what I love about cameras, they record things that are are sometimes seconds away from being on the endangered list, like working against a clock about to turn everything back in to pumpkins or in this case---extinct.

usually it's just material that makes an interesting texture.

the walls are usually thick and the other side of the wall often has a similar texture from more bottles, all with the mouths sealed up inside the wall.

however you can arrange the bottles to get light thru.

i've also seen the same thing done on more modern construction with aluminum cans.

my dad use to take me there as a kid quite frequently, although I remember much more of a town...

I also thought it was closed or something about 15 yrs ago, did something happen?

nice shots btw.....

You are right, it is more touristy now. I just picked my shots to show a different side of it.

I'd like to thank you for posting these pictures...they are especially meaningful to me as i am very very ill, since 2001, and can no longer travel...well i travel to the VA...

i reckon you could say i live vicariously through the pictures others take as they continue to live thier lives...

Just saw this.... Incredible images R. Hope that little chunk of steel helped on your journey. A survival coffee table book sounds like a great idea to me...
