I have a Palm Treo 650. It's my company's so can't get rid of it. Why I'm responding is just to let you know I can't recommend it either.

Lots of problems with mine anyway.

i have a treo 600 an really like it. i was going to upgrade to one of the newer phones, like a ppc-6700, and the salesman actually talked me out of it. he said the treo is way better, and once you have used one you will not like anything else. i might be buying a newer 650 or 700, if i do my 600 wil be up for grabs.

I love my Treo-650! Instead of carrying THREE items (PDA, cellphone, Blackberry) I now just carry one. Yes, there are a few operational problems to overcome, but if a non-techie like me can live with them and overcome them, anyone can. You can learn a lot by LURKING over at treocentral(dot)com. Lots of great information, but quite a few short-tempered, arrogant, ill-mannered people. (I still go over there once in a while just to remind me what a basically nice bunch of people we have over here at Bladeforums.)

Good responses... They are typical of what I found on different forums. People have either had good luck with and love them or had bad luck with and hate. I have a computer background and more than a bit of nerd in me so I don't think my problems are mostly the user (as may be typical). I'm not sure what it is. It may be that Palm's Quality Control is lacking or it may be software or service or design or (most likely) a combination of all. There are several very obvious improvements that could / should have been made in my opinion before release to the public. I will say that having a combination device like it is the future and it is nice when it works correctly.

It must be an unlocked one (you can choose wich company you will use), the kind you can insert a GSM chip on the back, near the top. And I reiterate that you will be well rewarded in knives for yours!

Yeah, Ivan you're clearly looking for one that that is GSM, so that rules out Sprint, and Verizon as carriers, as they are CDMA, not GSM.
