Hands down, I've never owned or used a knife that compares to PMoore's. From Hard Use, to soft use, still scalpel sharp

Look'in good! Did that blade start with the recurve blade or is that from repeated sharpening?

Carney can you gives us the specs on the knife? What type of steel, HRC, dimensions, handle composition, and maker?

Thank you chiral.grolim!

From the original thread.
Paul Moore is in the process of making my first handmade. At just under 12", 6 1/2" by 3/16" blade, acid etched , & carved out (flinted look) micarta handle it truly is the "King of the reptiles!"

Carney mentions the knife was made with O1 steel, but gives no HRC which is OK.

That's a nice knife and quite a review as well. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]
Thank you sir, it is my goto blade
And thank you for the complements on my review. A custom, hand made knife, this functional, with the perform level, Toughness, & and edge retention, at $300-$350, speaks for itself. Thanks again my friend;)

You're welcome! It's nice to see a custom knife see use instead of just be a safe queen.

Here's a pic of one of my favourite mid-sized knives; I chipped the blade last winter chopping into a frozen maple branch and it has sat in the drawer for half a year.

I finally got around to fixing it about a month ago; it's funny because it ended up looking similar to your knife which is completely unintentional as I'd not seen this blade before until your thread yesterday.

How it looked originally (and performed!):

It has a 7" blade of 52100 steel, thin full flat grind and a convex edge after the regrind. The scales are black micarta with green liners and it has a nice kydex sheath as well.

I hope you don't mind me sharing.:)

Awesome review man. I love the design of the knife. O-1 with the right heat treat is a lot tougher than some people give it credit for That tip would be driving me insane at this point though. I'd have to pointy that thing back up if I had to grind it on a concrete wall lol.

It was my first design, and I went with a spear point. You learn as you design. I prefer clip points myself. My new goto, (Carneyedge) is in the process of being made. It will see a lot of action (scout sheath), I will probably retire TRex..yeah right;)

It's about the same size, taller blade,& clip point (plus 1/4" high flat, with secondary convex)
I should have took some better pics before I sent it to Paul. He already has 5 sales on them. PMoore has the best HT I've used. His knives prove themselves
He is a member on here
The "CARNEYEDGE", with top quality scout style sheath, a life time Hard Use knife. Hand made to withstand my use, for $350 can't be touched. I have had 11 years of experience with him & his blades, & I've tested the Toughest, Sharpest, they don't touch PMoore.

Never would I mind you sharing. And the recurve looks great. Can I ask what you think made it chip out like that? HT maybe? I use knives Hard, and I like makers opinions on when their knives fail. PMoore included. In know way am I trying to to deface your blades. After PMoore makes a blade, he puts it through a rigorous set of tests. He can look at the steel after HT,& see if theirs a bad spot. He hits it,& breaks it. Thanks for your reply, your pics my friend

I would say only user error on my part; it was winter time last year and temps were around -25 here. Plus, this knife is ground quite thin so there's not a lot of material behind the edge. I was chopping on a frozen branch too, a piece about 1 1/2" in diameter, probably twisted my wrist at the wrong time and POW a chunk right out of the edge... :thumbdn: I'm a slow learner LOL. ;) Better technique and not overusing a thin blade next time I guess.

I also really like the new blade you're having made; love the negative blade angle compared to the handle.:thumbup::thumbup::cool:

That will be another workhorse that *might unseat the T-Rex from the throne... :D

Thanks for the answer, & I commend u on a nice knife.

Thank you sir; I'm going to modify the handle slabs next to give it more grip; I'll make sure to post pics in the just pics of knives thread when it's finished...

I can't wait to see the pics of that Carn-Edge; it's amazing to see something go from a drawing to a real life object like a custom knife.
