THG, just a thought.... I think you might be using too much pressure against the rods. If you are pushing on the blade it will push the burr to the opposite side. Try using only the weight of the knife with almost no pressure and see if that corrects the problem.
Yeah, I've been using it a little more today. It doesn't seem to flip the burr when I do it lightly enough. I still like my diamond, though
I love this thing for being able to set the edge correctly, though as well as:
1. Recurves! I finally get to sharpen my dad's 1970's Buck 110
2. Scissors!
3. Nail Clippers
4. Anything!
Yes, it is a great system.
Edit: Kind of off topic but still on the topic of sharpeners: I saw that chart a few days ago, that one that compared the grits/micron sizes of water stones, arkansas stones, DMT Diamond stones, and Sharpmaker rods, but I can't seem to find it. I'm interested to know how they compare to each other again but don't remember the thread in which it was posted.
