triad lock breakin peorid?

wow.. idk if i wanna buy products from someone like that tbh.

I and many others feel the same way.

If it makes you feel any better, Lynn C. Thompson has always been honest, and his extensive experience (some of which is on video) in martial arts, hunting, and survival goes into his knives. Combine that with the knifemaking experience of people like Andrew Demko, and you've got some great knives.

i just want something i can use and not worry about it breaking or screwing up on me. Need something to carry around with me for random tasks.

Sounds to me like the American Lawman fits the bill perfectly. Everything about it is tough as nails. As a knife designed to be carried by LEOs, it has to be. Those G10 handles are super strong, and then there is of course the Tri-Ad lock...

i hear some people leave it half open over night. Does that really do anything?

Yes, definitely. Has worked like a charm on a couple Cold Steels, including an Espada and Recon1 that were just about impossible to open even using two hands.

i think im gonna try it tonight. I did it for a couple hours this afternoon and it seemed to help some.

A lot of people seem to report positive results with that. I've never done it, myself, and I've got 7 or 8 Tri-Ad lock folders. Never had any problems...but if it works for people who do have issues, that's great. :)

i can see how it helps. i mean it puts pressure on the lock spring so it loosens up.

I mean with the coating on the blade it takes a little while for it to smoothen out too doesnt it?

You know, I didn't notice it until now, but my Satin finished and bead blasted Tri-Ad lock folders are smoother than my coated folders...hmm...

Not that the action feels gritty or anything, it certainly doesn't. I'm just noticing a difference in resistance.

when one is in an intense situation,
adrenaline will make sure a stiff lock will go unnoticed.
but just what causes that stiffness?
if i got it correct,
it's friction of the lock bar
against the stop pin?
Tri-ad.jpg

that being the case, there is no other way but to wear out.

It is certainly the spring that causes the stiffness. It feels exactly the same to press the lock bar in closed or open position, unless it sticks a little. I have tuff thumbs I suppose, But it feels perfect to me. I like the secure feeling in my AK. :)

All of my Tri-Ad lock folders are nice and easy now. The AK-47 and Recon 1 have the most resistance, but they're still smooth, and with a swift and dedicated deployment they come out like lightning. Easy open, easy close.

My slickest and quickest Tri-Ad lock folders are my Code 4 and my Voyager. Those things are slick as grease. A very close second is my Spartan. I've got an Espada coming in, and we'll see how smooth it is (my expectations are high).

When I first got my Recon 1, it was stiffer on the left than the right but they both seem good now.

I thought it was just me being a wimp (maybe it still is) but my Espada was getting painful to close. Just returned it. :(
