This thread is enough to make any Zulu smile!

Some very fine knives shown in this thread .

Here's a pic of an oldie made by the Georgian era London maker Morley & Co, 1840, it has a kinda drop point blade that I think looks similar in profile to Tony's, it does look a bit like a zulu spear :D 7" inches long, locking blade, full in profile, wicked sharp.

A big knife !

Outrageous knife, Mick!
Looks like something that came with the kitchen staff to an equally outrageous Georgian picnic!!:D

BTW, does it lock?

Hi Charlie,

The blade locks open, to release the blade you lift the leaf latch. It's a slim knife, not really sure what it actually was made for ?. The blade is razor sharp.

Thanks for clearing that up, Mick.
A slim, long knife makes a good ham slicer! If it was a stabber for self defense, you would think it would be more robust.
"Kitchen" kind of popped up when I first saw it, but I am no expert on that kind of knife.

Wow...out comes Mick with another knife of his to blow us away...Charlie, and Mick-I dont think I would be out of order to state that we ALL love seeing knives that grace your collections.

Charlie...thank you for helping me ( again ) with my questions...I have NEVER seen a *ebro* pocket knife-I have seen ( and owned ) many of the ( fixed blade ) hunting knives that came out with the tapered tangs/ jigged bone handles.
I am sure that I read somewhere that the Kastor ( spelling?) Bros owned the *ebro* naming right..and used it up untill 1912..is this correct??..I remember looking this up when challenged by a knife collector friend-( I won hehehehe ) and found this information..but do you think I can find it now!!!!!!

I STILL cannot stop looking at these knives!!
Thank you.

Another knife blade that has a similar spear look is the Kerry Hampton "KHNutbuster" listed in the "show me your sod buster" thread. Pretty darn close to me. Great looking blades!

A.G. Russell has a "General Purpose" blade shape on his "one-hand" knives that is very similar and looks to be very handy. I have seen other modified Wharncliffe blades too, but can't remember who made/offered them. It or the "zulu" seems to be a really good blade shape to me. I think Wharncliffe blades are really very useful as well; I am a fan.

This is a good thread. That Bose/Case collaboration is really nice for a semi-production knife. I'd love to have one.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the Al Mar raptor series of lockbacks (Falcon, Hawk, Eagle, Osprey) have a modified Wharncliffe that is a super blade shape in my mind. It's too pointy to be considered a Zulu though.

If anyone gets one and just can't stand it, PM me and we can work out some kind of a transfer. Free to a good home would work...

Even though the above request was tongue in cheek, please keep all requests and/or offers regarding trades and exchanges to the appropriate threads and sections of the site.

We don't want to send the wrong message to new members who may not be familiar with forum guidelines and have threads get populated with such postings.

Thanks.
