Not sure if this is the right sub forum. I am hoping there is a place to post this "wanted" without individually asking each and every maker on this site the same question -

I want a pair of handle scales made BUT they need to be routered out from the inside. I want the scales to be LARGER than the tang (in one area) but do not want a gap (between the scales) in that area. So if each scale has the shape of the tang cut into it half as deep as the tang is thick, the two handle scales could close AROUND the tang. I hope I am explaining this in a way that sense. I also hope someone can do it OR knows someone who will.

There is only one small area (the guard) where the scales need to protrude further than the tang. Other than that one spot, thee spine can be exposed just like any normal full tang knife with scales. So if there is a different way, other than using a router and going from the inside (like doing traditional scales then filling that spot in), I'd be happy to hear it. The finished result is all I care about. If a maker knows a better way to get to that result, that works too.

Thanks Guys!

I have thought about that method but never tried it. My fear is that both scales need to be damn near perfectly flat or will have gaps. Depending on the wood you could chisel out the pocket in each scale carefully by hand.
