Tried and True

Why is using a fountain pen a foppish affectation?
If you are going to enjoy good tools, then a good fountain pen sits up there with them.
It makes writting enjoyable.
It is another way of passing on character in your handwritting that gets lost in ballpoints.

Fountain pens are another tradition getting lost.

I agree!

Besides, I've always been jelious of people with beautifull handwriting and able to use a fountain pen. My own writing looks like I was supposed to go to medical school. :D

Let's see, on a typical day I'll have my stag Eye Brand stockman with carbon steel blades in my pocket. On my wrist I have a Hamilton Khaki Automatic. I use a Lamy fountainpen to write with, although I'm thinking of replacing it with a nice Waterman Carene. I shave with a Hen & Rooster straight razor.

Those are my tried and true favorites. I know it's best not to become too attached to material possessions, but I've found myself becoming pretty fond of these four items.

My EDC
knifes case stag whittler in left pocket.
case stag stockman right pocket
on belt AG Russel hunter on left hip
Sig mod 230 .380 on right hip
a pair of Parker 45 pens that I have had since the 60's left shirt pocket
a pack of cig's and a 25 year old zippo in right shirt pocket
an old Rolex sub on left wrist. been with me since 1967.
cell phone to the right of belt buckle
light A Mr BULK Lion cub on left hip in custom holster

That is it day in day out.

The only item that I can't legally carry Away from home (and don't) is a J frame S&W or a Colt Commander.

I typically have an opinel #7 in my right front pocket although I have a # 6 on the way, and I've had the same leatherman wave with me everyday for the past 4 years..als a minimag pen light with a clip is usuallyin my front pocket, in my wallet I've been carrying a really small doouble sided diamond plat 400 and 600 grit it's new but so far it's been great. depending on where I'm going I might have a stainless steel flask of jamesons irish whisky on me as well...

Right on. Can I come!? ;) Actually I have a nice flask as well. My wife gave it to me. I've been known to warm up a party from time to time with a timely pass-around me self.

some of you guys carry some serious hardware :D
i'd need suspenders to keep my drawers up!
i keep it fairly simple
Buck Alpha Dorado w/rosewood scales
A beat up old Camillus #33 easy open jack or one of my other old slippies
A zippo pipe lighter
cigarettes (sometimes one of my pipes and supplies)
Cheap little Buck Whitaker on the keychain.

my grandpa always, always had a slipjoint, zippo, pack of camels and some tums... never left home without these basic items
