"Trinity"

Perhaps someone more knowledgeable can comment but all my research indicates that the actual manufacturing technique of ancient ( not pattern welded) wootz/damascus/bulat steel are as if yet unknown to modern metalurgy. There have been many people who claim they "might have" rediscovered the tecnique but nothing definitive.

Once again maybe someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

The technique it is but unknown. J.Louis is one of the Master of the art that use it very well.
For your own curiosity you could go and read here:

(go to the Sword section...)
I also read a post where J.Louis explained with picture his crucible technique, but he himself could put you on the right track for collecting updated info.

Thanks. I always like to find something new to read on metalurgy.

Edit: Fair enough. Seems I was wrong.

Gorgeous. As usual. And yes I can confirm as well : this is actual stainless wootz. Achim Wirtz from Germany is one of the few other ones able to make that.

Thank you very much for your comment about my knife, it's very important to improve my work.

By the way, if you want information about the wootz you can read the article of Alfred Pandray (He is one of the first to have worked and researched about the Modern wootz, since more than 30 years).

Flabbergasting knife, J.Louis, like a fine musical instrument. The little curling wave of steel where the spine meets the fuller is my favorite detail. :]
