Trip Report - Great Smoky Mountains

Hi. I see that your companion is carrying what appears to be a North Face Flight Series backpack. What model is it? How is it?

It's the Hammerhead. I also have one and we both really like it. Well thought out design. The tube has a quick release where it meets the bladder, so it is super easy to clean. Mesh pockets on both sides for extra bottles of water or whatever you want. I use a larger Camelbak, but that is only so I can carry my camera. If I just took a point and shoot, I would always use my Hammerhead as well.

During college, we were driving through Tennessee (geology field trip) and I remarked to myself.... I could live here. I was probably 20 and had never lived any where other than Pennsylvania and seldom considered living anywhere else. Guess what, I live in TN now! Had to live in Texas and Kentucky first, but made it to Dollyland. Love the Smokey's and the entire length of the Blue Ridge in East Tennessee. Enjoyed your pictures.

Hey, i just got back from the Smokey Mtn.s also. About a month ago. We stayed in Pigeon Forge and like u said it has gotten away from what the Mtns mean to me. We still had a great time though. I went to Dollywood and a man gave me a bunch of free leather at a leather shop. He said they were just scaps to him. Im gonna try to make sheaths out of them. My favorite part of the Mtns to me is the drive over from Gattlinburg to Cherokee.........My Goodness its so beautiful. I could live in those Mtns. Anyway i had my Pilot survival knife on me the whole time and walked up to Clingmans dome and just dreamed of living in a place like that. And yes it rained on us tooooo..haha.

I'm glad you replied. I forgot that I had messed around with the pics on my server and didn't fix this thread. The pics work again. :)
