My roomy and I went to a gun and knife show today about an hour from home. I ran into a guy that I had spoke to on the phone and over the net but had never met before. He is the owner of a website that sells GEC knives so of course I was as interested in the knives as I was meeting him. He also knew who I was from talking to me before and my youtube videos. It was pretty cool for someone to say they knew me and remembered speaking to me. When I seen all the GEC knives I walked over and ask him "Are you the guy from hundred?" His reply was "Yes and you're the girl from (my home town) who does youtube videos right?" Yep thats me. :D

So I ended up buying a GEC Powder Horn Abalone and words can't describe how beautiful it is.

On ya Ash!, thats a very nice looking knife you have there, and as you said.....a pretty cool meeting!

Sounds like a good time, it's always nice to run into someone who knows your neck of the woods. MOF I am from back there myself. Don't know where he is located but I know that gristmill he has on his site and grew up very close by. Babcock is a very nice place to spend time at.

A fun trip and a stunning knife. Outstanding!

That's a nice shiv. I like the toothpick pattern, but can only find small ones by Case or Buck, so I may look into one by GEC for my next high-end knife.

To me, that abalone is interesting, but a little too feminine. I didn't know there were enough lady knife collectors out there to make it worthwhile to prouce them.

Nice one Ash! Great story behind it too!

Sounds like a great way to spend a day. I love meeting people that I "know" from here.
That is a beautiful knife. I love the color of those scales.

Thats a refreshing gun show story. I have come to expect much different from threads about them, and from my own experience.

Dang it you've got me hankerin' for a #12 PJ now. Regardless of what other people say I love going to gun and knife shows even if they can be hit or miss ( you'll never find out if you don't go ).

Is that the acrylic abalone? I've looked at slabs of that and wondered how it would look on a knife.

Nice find!

Don't get me wrong, I always enjoy the spectacle. It's $7 for the best entertainment around, for as long as you can stand it.

I've never really warmed up to this pattern, but the scales are beautiful! I've thought about picking up one of GEC's 'looking glass' scaled knives many times. I like that you get the attractiveness of abalone or pearl combined with the durability of acrylic. One of these days I'll find an example that I just can't resist.
