Me and my family are driving from Toronto to Buffalo next week, we are going to be staying for 3 days just looking around. Since i dont have a knife store around where i can handle and buy knives, im gonna spend a day just handling and buying knives. The problem is i don't know anywhere where i can go to do this, so i would really like if you guys would help me. Please give me the name of any store that carries a good selection of knives in Buffalo. If you know a good store, please recomend it with the addres and a website if possible, thanks.

Knucks,

I hope you and your family enjoy your visit to the USA. Welcome.

No personal experience re Buffalo. However, it is my experience that outstanding knife stores are rare and certainly they are not in every city nor are great knife stores even in every state.

Road trip option: Nice drive along that big lake to Ashland, OH. Fin, Feathers & Fur (419 281 2557). Nick & Craig work the knife counter. I have done business, over the phone, with them both and I am very impressed and completely satisfied with product, service and knowledge (impressive Benchmade experts and Benchmade smiles on them because they walk the earth like vending giants (set BM sales records, for Ohio, year after year)).

Best,

oregon

Thanks for the help oregon, i might just do that. Since there is a lack of knife stores can i at least expect wal-mart to carry the spyderco native?

You might want to try Gander Mountain in Tonawanda, NY, directly North of Colvin Blvd. exit Rt. 290E
OR

Gun Center on Harlem Rd. in Buffalo, NY
290E/ 90W/33E- Exit @ Harlem rd. 1st exit Turn right less than 1 mile on the
right side of st.

Hope these help.

i have a gander by me-ok selection at best-sometimes a good sale price, not often-i check my local one enough to know pretty much what they have in my head now-

Agreed, Gander ususally has an OK selection, but they do have 3 counters, a Case, Gerber, Leatherman displays.

Gun Center used to have more "High" end a lot of Benchmade, Spyderco, Cold Steel they sell to the local PD so they usually want "better" knives.

Sure there is Wally world, K-mart and the like to look at as well.

thanks for all the input guys. One more really ignorent question, what does 290E/ 90W/33E mean ?

Not all Walmarts carry the terrific Spyderco Native. You might consider calling ahead and checking inventory in order to insure a successful search. Here are three WM in and around Buffalo. Managers in the store can easily check, using hand-held devices, the inventory of specific items in other stores.

Also, some WMs have a display counter with close-outs under the glass (possible bargains). Ask to be shown all knife close-outs as they can be hidden under flotsom and jetsom or jammed back in a cubby hole. One of my favorites is the large Buck Stockman slipjoint, three blades, with wood scales.

Note: At WM I always check at least three knives to see which one is most perfect. Grind, lockup, fit, finish, scratches, dings and other evilry can usually be detected at the knife counter so you aren't disappointed when you get home. Just let them know you are a picky collector and they usually understand. Store policy is to only let you handle one knife at a time so don't be suprised at this.

Please let us know how your trip goes. I have high hopes for your success.

I was just up there myself and visited the Ka-Bar factory in Olean (outside of Buffalo). The Zippo factory in Bradford, PA is also close by... Dunno about any retailers though...

Hey Knucks, last trip I made across the border to Buffalo I hit up Dick's Sporting Goods. They didn't have much at the time but they did have some SOG's, Kershaw, Leatherman, Buck and Gerber. Good luck to you.

Went to the Zippo Visitors center myself, kind of neat with the history of Case knives as well as Zippo lighters. Haven't been to the K-Bar factory.

I will let you guys know what i picked up when i get back, Thanks for all the help.
