I have two, the normal size makes a nice secondary knife held in a reverse grip in a khukuri/trisul combination. The big one (18" OAL, 5" handle, 13" blade) is practically a short sword.
I've got an antler handled Trisul. Its a beauty. Not too sharp, but very well made. Its not a utility knife, its a dagger, and I guess thats what its good for, dagger stuff! I haven't actually used it for anything. You wouldn't chop with it.
Probably less useful than most of my HI stuff, but I'm glad I've got it.
I have one and it balances really well for a fighter. Needed a better edge. I actually used an Apex Edgepro and it shaves easily now. The integral guard is a nice touch for a fighter. It is a little thick at the spine, but it will do the job nicely.
Howard says the Trisuls are a Nepali's substitute for a Bowie Knife. They do resemble the Arkansas Toothpick which was also a renowned fighter.
Also to me the Trisuls resemble the Ontario line of Bill Bagwell's Bowies. IIRC one of the guys here said the balance was very similar and that the Trisul was just as fast as a Helle's Belles.
I've got a sample of one of Sher's early ones with white feathered horn which is very pretty. The ! kami tends to make them with handles a fraction longer. His work is very detailed IMO.
