trolling ?

I explained to you that the way you were making your post was out of line for this forum. I also explained that it had nothing to do with your valid point, but had everything to do with how you delivered it.

Let me repeat myself.

Your topic was valid and you are welcome to start another thread.
The way you delivered your point was out of line is in direct contraction of how we conduct ourselves in this forum. If you can not deal with it, you are not welcome here.

Do you see other disrespectful posts in this forum? (No). Why do you think you are so special?

I am not about to let this particular forum degrade from threads that are disrespectful and I suggest you pick up on that.

i see , no freedom of speech on this forum them ,, errr ok delete my account

aardy, Blade Forums does not delete accounts of contributing members, it bans members who cause trouble or insults other members. IE: Trolling.
You are welcome here to contribute, it is not a Public Forum, but a private one. Spark's house, Sparks' Rules. If you do not see the difference you might be getting your wish of your account being banned.
Try it again, being respectful of others and you can become a good member of a great community of knife nuts.

well put james. its no different than going to a friends house to visit. you still have to mind your p's and q's if you want to be allowed back ;):D.

Seems that our other UK members who participate in the traditional forum have not problem with the terms respect.

We do not delete accounts here. If you do not wish to participate that is your decision. Personally, my hope is that you will stay and participate, but not in a manner that inflames.

aardy,

The thread you started here about CV vs SS steel that Gus closed I actually agree with for the most part. However, if you take the good time and trouble to really look at how you wrote your post, and not what(content) you wrote, one can see that it is only meant to be insulting. Then you added in the little (jerkit) emo and anyone can certainly see what your intention was, which was clearly trolling for an argument.. Now, that may be tolerated in some of this forum, but not here. We here typically like to learn and share with others without the needless non-sense.

Hopefully, this will be a lesson in maturity for you. I wish you all the best and hope you stay. But, you are free to choose after all.

Best,

Anthony

Well said Anthony!

Thank you.

very good ;) whatever .

just as a matter of interest , why is that gesture included in this for for members to use ?
is it just baiting to ban people ?

aardy, if you are a knife knut then it shouldnt be hard to follow the rules. try lurking for a while and hold off on posting and you'll see how things are run. the only ones to get banned are the ones who refuse to follow the rules.

It's available for use in the proper venue. (As in other areas of the site where it would be more appropriate. Whine & Cheese, Pirate's Cove etc.)

The members who visit the Traditional Forum tend to do their own policing of the content of their posts which allows for a very civil and enjoyable sub-forum. Occasionally, Gus and I have to step in but try to do so only when and where warranted.

We take civility and respect toward others on the forum seriously so that everyone feels welcome.

aardy,

If my intention was to ban you it would have happened. All I did was issue a warning and explain to you the reason your thread was locked. (i.e. not the topic but the way you delivered it.).

Your next move was to make another post insinuating that it was your opinion that got the thread locked when you had the reason in writing.

Take a minute to read the guidelines of the traditional forum. The only thing we suppress in there is bad behavior and off topic stuff and we do so without exception.

sunnyd is right; aardy - you made a good point, one that not many here would really disagree with.

However, usually, when I see the jerk-it smilie, I drop the thread right there and go elsewhere in the forum. There is too much interesting info to look at than look at jerk-its, and read the attitudes that go along with them. That's just my opinion.

I made a point to Blues earlier today that this is the only forum that I participate in right now, and this forum has been, and is, the only forum where I'll let my son sit with me and look at knives, dogs and hunting. (He loves boy scout knives and SAK's, and, well, dogs and hunting.:)) This is a direct result of how well the mods do their job, and I appreciate it. When they do have to warn someone, it's usually well deserved.

I do lurk and post occasionally in W&C - not when my son is with me, of course - which in my opinion, is the only place for jerk-its.

thx - cpr

aardy,

What makes the Trad forum so special is its Code of Conduct of politeness and respect, which engenders a feeling of cameradrie not found else where.
And this gets applied even handedly to even senior and very respected members of the knife community.

So it is worth your while to come back, and learn from some very special folk here.
