Kind regards Peter,

Hen & Rooster rate in the middle, kinda average. They used to be rated as very good but they(Robert Klas) changed most everything in the past couple of years.

I manadged to aquire an OTTO FROMM in mint cond, made in germany,
Looks like I`m about to be ripped off from zeepk, reconds I didn`t send the doe ,even though I told him when the money order was deposited in his account ,after that he wont return my emails
Kind regards Peter

Otto Fromm razors are good, solid razors. Just remember that all of these razors need to be "fully" honed. That means that on a new razor the bevel must be reformed because it is done incorrectly at the factory and on a used razor the steel has had time to oxidise and become "rotted". The "rotted" edge must be removed and a new bevel created. Use a 4000 grit Norton Hone or its equivelent to do both jobs. When doing the above put a piece of tape over the spine of the razor so that you do not generate an excessive wear pattern on the shoulders of the blade. Replace the tape after every 25 laps on the hone.
Let me know if you need more instructions on how this process works.

Thanks so much for your help ,I wish I had spoken to you earlier before I lashed out as the razor from zeepk arrived today ,I didn`t think it would, quite frankly I wish it hadn`t Junk with a capital J
I will let you know how I go sharpening the Otto and the Henckels as that has surpose to have no ever been sharpened either.
Surprise surprise the yankee I told you about, I have been working on it for about a week on and of ,I had my second shave with it today and it is getting better and better . I have finalyworked out the secret about sharpening a razor (Patience).I can`t leave without a question
When you are cutting a new bevel do you put any weight on the blade to help the cutting process
Kind regards Peter

The amount of pressure to use is between 1-2 lbs and then only for 10-15 laps. After that reduce the pressure to very light. Creating the bevel is "THE" most important step in honing a straight razor. Be very patient here. Only use the medium stone to create the bevel. Stop when the razor passes the thumbnail test.

Hope this helps,

there is a 1903 mint swaty hone for sale on ebay what do you think
Kind regards Peter
