I'm haveing a problem with my paiute deadfalls from time to time.. sometimes when I spring them, the trigger stick will get knocked out, and the string unravels around the main support stick as planned, but the top stick which supports the weight will stay in place... I'd say they work for me about 75-80 pervent of the time..(but that's not good enough) it occurred to me today that I might be positioning the notch that joins it to the support stick, to close to the weight, in essence putting the fulcrum to close to one end of the lever. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet though. any other thoughts?

Seems like you have it pretty well figured, keep the upright stick out from under the weight and you should be fine. Chris

thanks boys... That video is pretty cool as well.. I'venever seen it with a forksed stick before..pretty neat!

Hopefully you get it straight by next week, I really want you to teach me that one bro!!

I've never seen it with a forksed stick before..pretty neat!

Me neither, that is slicker than snot on a door knob.

I am pretty deadly with the regular notched top stick, but I don't think I will use that anymore, looks like the forked stick is the way to go. Chris

I've had allot of of success with fig.4 and split stick deadfalls..and have gotten, my share of rats with a paiute as well..but sometimes I'll go to find the trap sprung but the rock still suspended..I will incorporate these innovations asap..Thanks.. I should be posting mre vids this week as well. Thanks guys.

You bet bud. I am glad to have helped. I have not mastered this one myself - but I had seen this 'modification' and wanted to share.

I have been practicing with a forked stick and cantilevered top stick for the Paiute.....work great!
