Went on a lil fish hike today. Marcelo joined me for a lil bit, but he had to cut out early. Alot of plants coming up around the river. I'm a lil tired, so I'll shut my trap and just post the pics.

Sorry for the crappy pics, all I had was my cellphone camera..

Garlic Mustard

We have Ramps also up here

Trillium

Blood Root

Fern I think??

Anyone have a clue what this is?

More to come.

Caught about 7 trout, only kept 4 for the table. Nothing huge though..

So I have this Fiddleback Bird and Trout knife, I figured we'd see if it would live up to half of its name......

What face would you make if someone stuck a knife in your bum.....

The knife worked perfect for this. I had almost as much fun cleaning the trout then I did catching them! The beautiful contours of the handle gave me a comfortable and secure grip, even with though my hands were oily and wet. Awesome knife!!

Thanks for looking!!

great stuff Tony... those are some cool pics, especially coming from a cell phone...:)

i like that FB bird and trout knife... i don't think i had seen that one yet...:o

Looking good Tony… :)

…I too noticed a lot of the same plants sprouting in the past few days.

You’ve got me jonesing for fresh trout, nothing better.

Thamks fellas.

The Trout was delicious! Put some lemon and Herb seafood rub in it, as well as lemon juice and butter. Wrapped it loosly in tin foil and grilled to perfection!!

Marcelo you should have hung around, the fishing picked up....

Big Mike, when we getting together? Whats up for next Tuesday??

Fern I think??

Yep. thats a fern, but it doesn't look like ostrich fern so I'd pass on harvesting the fiddle heads.

The other pic (yellow flower with red/green spotted leaves) Trout Lilly. The root/bulb is supposed to be eddible but they can make you sick. Again, I'd pass.

Looks like a great day !
Our trout season doesn't start til Saturday but I'll be at the firehall :grumpy:
I will be taking the boys Sunday instead ;)

I thought your were joking about not being able to id the trout lily - given its name and the topic :D

They look like brookies except the silver one has me a bit confused... Is it just the lighting and the same species?

3 Different species in the pic.

Top is a rainbow, middle two are Brook, and the bottom is a Brown:thumbup:

Don't get me started on the trout lilly, it seams what I thought were trout lillies were not:foot::o

Very nice pics bro! Thats just what a maker wants to see! I'm going to do a few of those in 1/8" thick 440C. Just got my first SS in this week.

Nice pics. The fishing just makes me want to get out even more! I am going to try and go on Sunday.

Care to explain, GS?

GP

It has nothing to do with the program you gave me. Its totally my idiocy(is that a word).:o

I will take pics of the plant next time I see it. It grows next to Skunk Cabage and has a similar coloration to the true Trout Lilly.

Forgive me GP, I'm still learning....
