This is a little trout/general purpose knife I did for a young lady who just graduated Clemson University. It's 7 1/2" OAL with just over 3" cutting edge. 1/8" 440c at 57RC and hollow ground. Handle is tigerwood with white and orange G10 liners. Thanks to those who gave me some finishing tips on the tigerwood(I still need to buff it). I am going to work on getting better pics at some point but the iPad will have to do until then.

Thanks for the compliments guys. This was a little tough for me because I'm a South Carolina fan!!! I think the purple would have been a bit much.

Great job! It does look clean and well built. I like the fact that you put a date on it. Is that stamped or etched? Just curious as to why you chose that RC? (I know guys choose RC a lot based on what a blade is used for i.e. hard use knife needs lower RC... and what the particular steel type is.) What were your deciding factors with this knife? Thanks!

No particular reason. It was tempered at 400 and this is where it came out. It was actually 57-58. I just use the lower number. I'm still new to all of this especially HT. It should hold a good edge and not be a bear to sharpen. Thanks.

Edit: Both my makers mark and the date are etched. The maker's mark didn't get dark. I'm not sure why but this is only the third blade I have etched. It still looks good but its just subtle.

Nicely done! Bird & Trout knives are fun to make and use.

Nice! Looks simple and clean and like it'd be a joy to use. I really like these style knives where form follows function and there's nothing extra.

Thanks will and James. I have one more profiled and plan on getting started on it shortly. I did enjoy making this one.
