I was up in the mountains last week for a fishing trip. The location will not be disclosed, but I can reveal that I was in Wyoming. The fishing was fantastic and the scenery was gorgeous. I didn't take too many pictures, but you get the idea:

Weather was really good.

I caught many fish of various sizes: Brook trout, Brown trout, Rainbow trout, and Cutthroat trout. It was a fantastic trip over 4 days. I didn't see another human the entire time, but I did see an Osprey catch a fish out of the stream. Amazing.

To celebrate, I'm going to give away a Farmer knife:

With sheath:

The Jade G-10 is very cool.

This knife is really sharp (Farmer knives are known for their sharpness) and is of a very practical design. The handle is thin and never felt quite right for me. So I'm passing it on.

Contest rules:

1: You must be legally able to own this knife.

2: I used many different fly patterns to catch the aforementioned fish, but one was the most consistently productive. Guess the most productive fly pattern and you win the knife. E.g., Bleached Fox-fur Downwing Trude.

3: Only one guess per calendar day per person. There is no time limit to the contest.

4: You don't have to fish, but you do have to love the outdoors.

5: To make this contest more educational, I'd appreciate it if you would post a picture of the pattern of fly you are guessing. This isn't mandatory, but it'd be nice.

6: First correct guess wins.

Game on!

Bead Head pheasant tail prince nymph? On my phone, alas no pics.

Bead Head nymph?

OK, I should have specified that I'm looking for a specific pattern. "Dry Fly" or "Bead Head Nymph" will not be considered specific enough. But you are allowed to guess again since I wasn't specific enough in the rules.

Everyone else is now informed. ;)

(I will say that I had pretty good success with a no-name soft hackle that I had tied myself. But that is not the correct answer either.)

Black Woolly Bugger is always a good idea, but I didn't try it on this trip.

Yellow hatch emerger!

And for a bonus, you finished the day with a couple of Moose Drools!

There was a brief hatch during which I guarantee that would have worked. But I didn't have that with me. Too bad. :(

I did fish a Prince nymph, usually a killer, but didn't have a single strike with it. That is one of the mysteries of this trip....

Stimulator. Thanks for the chance and damn I love jade G10!

Sorry, my computer shuts down when I try to post pictures now.
