#1 is 8 1/2" overall and is knapped out of some really cool Obsidian that is swirled with black and brown.
$70. S/H included to the US. International shipping is extra.

This Knife/Blade was hand knapped by myself, Teddy R Pruitt.
I started knapping at the age of 13 and have now been knapping for around 13 years.
All my knives are satisfaction guaranteed!

for those of you who want to know about obsidian , check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsidian
and this, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knapping

Now, let it be known that Obsidian, being a natural "glass" can be very sharp,
but also very brittle. So this is not a type of blade you would want for everyday use (that's what all the quality steel blades listed on this site are for) but should be considered "collectible art pieces" reminiscent of the stone age, before man learned the superior properties of iron and steel.

All the blades are hafted to a whitetail antler handle, using high strength epoxy and artificial sinew. I do not offer a sheath, as you will most likely put this in your display case anyways

#2 is also 8 1/2" long and is made from the same Spiderweb Obsidian that has really cool black and brown swirls
$68.00 S/H included to US. International shipping is extra.

I have one of these rainbow obsidian not one of yours though and I have to say I love it , but its not sharp at all .
I understand its an art piece I brought as such what would be the upshot of making it sharp ?.
I mean would it become 'extremely fragile' or is it the time needed to make it sharp ? just wondered as it is iirc the sharpest material out there , used for eye surgery etc .
I've seen those that do cut skinning etc so what's the difference between those and my piece , is it a lot of work to get it sharp resulting in a higher price ?.
Mine was a bargain is certainly obsidian but as stated no sharp at all , again its not one of yours but any feed back would be appreciated ATB .

Hey ,the Sharpend
Those blades you see them skinning with and the surgical scalpels are made differently than these knapped blades. Those knives are made by taking one big long flake off of a big core of stone resulting in a blade with ultra thin and smooth edges. Sharper than razor sharp!
The blade you have was possibly even ground slightly on the edge to actually dull it being it was made for display. The knapped blades are generally not as sharp as a steel blade but with a lot of care a cutting edge can be achieved. My knives should cut small rope fairly easily and I have tested one on my steak before :D it cut rather well.
Hope this helps.
