Tru-Grit HT?

Hey All,

Has anyone used the HT service from Tru-Grit? How did it come out? $10 for Ht seems like a hell of a deal, but only if they do good work. Any insight is appreciated.
 
I don't have an direct experience with them, yet. But I have my first 7 blades ready to send them so I'll know soon enough.
I have visited them and met with Jeff who does the HT and seen the oven and his work area in the back.

You can call TruGrit and speak to Jeff directly, I think he will address any questions or concerns you might have.
 
I have had many blades heat treated at TruGrit. Jeff Mutz is a very talented knifemaker and runs the shop there.

It is $10 for carbon blade, Add $2 for stainless foil wrap ad $4 more for cryo treatment.

It is a good fair price and Jeff loves to chat with knifemakers so feel free to call and ask him any questions.

I have an early knife by Ian Hall, he used them back then. Great ht on cts-xhp.

I've chatted with Jeff in person and bought steel from him. Nice guy.
 
I've had great experiences with them. I visit the shop about 2-3 times a month, and usually hang around for a few hours chatting it up with everyone in the shop. Great people to deal with. Hell I was just there today to pick up belts, mosaic pins, G10, and order a baldor motor.
 
I have not used them for HT yet. But next time I need HT they are on my list.
I know their customer service is great as far as belts purchase goes. Great company.
 
I have had Jeff do 100+ knives for me so far. I can highly recommend him. Everything has come out perfect and he has turned them around very fast when I needed them.
 
Yeah, I have bought belts from them before and there turnaround is really quick. They respond very quickly to inquiries. I was also doing some comparison pricing on belts and they seem to blow everyone else out of the park for 2"x42" ceramic belts.:thumbup:
