Hello All,
Just received Four tines from a friend who services forklifts. They all appear to be in good shape, no cracks, repairs, corrosion.
He said that mature firms, replace them at the recommended service interval, in order to prevent injuries.
Now, I'm thinking that I could make post anvils out of the huge ones.

For the smaller ones, would it make sense to try out san mai, or even two layer Kasumi style blades?
Which harder steel have you had success with?
Thanks in advance.

In truth, I'd sell them for the utility they provide to people that need them, then buy scrap yard prehard 4140 as a post anvil

I am in the lift truck business and they are too hard to do anything with. However, they have some value and you should try to sell them before scrapping them. If you are in a rural area many farmers use them to make fork buckets for their tractors. They should be worth a couple hundred dollars a pair minimum. Good luck.

Soft back with a fairly hard treatment on the working face.

Maybe you could cut it up and put them to work as an anvil face. It sounds perfect for that.
