• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

I have one, and well it's not too bad, but it's really not anything that I would use around the camp. It feels to me more like something to use to tear open a door, window or roof than anything else. (oh and you really shouldn't throw it, but then again I was young and stupid when I got mine)

That is the one. I believe I will try it .

I have one, but I haven't used it very much. My cousin however, is a fireman and he says it is his best tool. He has used it to smash in doors, break locks, cut into metal doors, all kinds of stuff. Here are a couple pics of his. You can see all the abuse it has taken.

what do you plan to use this for? Fireman tools tend to fill their intended purpose well but do not cross over to general use very well.

i always wondered if there was a purpose for having such a high polish on a fireman's axe? it seems to me that they are always mirrored or close to it...

Darrell's post is pretty consistent with the reviews out there. If you're getting crazy with a hatchet (and don't have a dedicated all-steel warhawk or breaching axe) then you're going to want a fiberglass handle. Lowes or Home Depot hatchets can get you that much, but you may find their head designs lacking when you take them out of their wood-cutting specific element. The Truckman seems to solve that, and for only about 70% more than the premium hardware store hatchets. I'd call this one a great value for someone looking for a great tool.

I have used it for about th ree days. Great tool and crosses over very well. Sheet metal is no match for it and does a good job in wood. The pick end will go into what ever you are man enough to hit with it.

This would indeed go well in a BOB.

i dont know how much door breeching you would be doing in a real bug out SHTF situation unless you are national guard or are part of some kind of first response team. yes it would be good for that purpose but i think a large knife or hawk would be better suited for a BOB. this would just take up space in my opinion as it would not serve as well for a normal chopper/splitter. the purpose of a BOB is to get you from one place to another quickly, with as little time lost as possible. this i believe would be a time waster.
