I watched the first True Detective on HBO. I thought it was pretty good, but like most cop shows, totally unrealistic. So, I am watching the 2nd True Detective. Same thing. However, the ending of episode 2 was a real bummer. I was not expecting that. (I won't spoil it.)

What a surprise that was!! I feel like I'm still watching Game of Thrones!

I loved woody, and Mathew acting together. I don't have cable or HBO ,I'll have to get on my kindle off amazon I guess and widi it to my tv.

Season 1 was my favorite tv show all-time. Season 2 isn't doing much for me, episode 2 included.

Woops, I watched season 1 three times so far. Lol

I liked the first one and I'm liking the second. The second is different and I'm not adverse to that.

I like good detective books, movies, plays and tv shows.

I do not have cable or a dish for boob tube reception. It is our choice since we do not watch much television shy of a few things. I have free OTA reception in this college town and I can actually get a few stations compared to where I used to live here in MT.

(I do have cable for my internet connection out here though. We chose to connect to one company out here for this computer service.)

I may see if I can rent this show.

What era or year is this supposed to take place in?

Thanks for the tip!

It's sent in present day. The first season had some flashback/forward bits but none on the current season.

I watched the first season recently. I found the 1st 4 shows moved a bit slowly but the last 4 were great. I think that Woody is very adept at finding parts where he can play himself. Many actors do the same.

Think about what he does, and what he's required to have on him, and where exactly those two incidents landed. ;)

Loved the first season and the second season is pretty good so far in my opinion. I really like Vince Vaughns character.

Ani, Rachel madams (hot) has a bunch of knives m, at least 3 I've seen so far. She even talks about them in a scene during episode 2 and why she carries them. One is a benchmade folder in back pocket and also a boot knife and belt buckle knife.

^^^

Cool story on the knives in the show.

I would like to rent this series soon if I can find it at my local video store.

Thanks to everyone here for their replies too.

Started watching but quit for some reason, have to give it another chance it sounds like.

I thought that the first run-through, with Harrelson and McConohay, was one of the best things I've ever seen on TV...Period. About the second episode I said to myself...This is something special; something you don't see on TV very often.

The second iteration is bleak to the nines...Of all the main characters it's the mobster who appears to be the most stable... Rachel's character, "Antigone", should be popular with all the knife-knuts here.....
I'm not making any judgements just two episodes in.

Don't read this if you haven't seen episode 3 yet.

Well, surprise, surprise. Maybe is should be hooray for Hollywood. Det.Velcoro survived a shotgun fired at point blank range into his chest. The story is that he was shot with rubber buckshot. That's OK for the first shot, but point blank range would be deadly. Even a 12ga blank would be deadly at that range. That's why rubber buck is called less lethal.

My husband and I saw the FIRST SEASON of TRUE DETECTIVE with WH and MM on DVD over the weekend.

We enjoyed the detective story and I personally think that BOTH actors were outstanding in it! I thought that they played GREAT PARTNERS! I did not care for some of the scenes but it was part of the plot.

I guessed part of the story line right when it came to one criminal. I do not want to give away the story here!

Those actors were VERY good in this show. Outstanding!

We will see what Season 2 is like when it comes out on DVD too.

The second season has different actors playing different roles in a completely different story.

It's an anthology, not a serial.

They shouldn't really be numbered at all, it's a brand new show and if they make another one, it will be too.

Kind of like that new show Fargo. Second season will be all new characters, all new story. That's a great show too by the way, check out the first season. If you have or haven't seen the movie, watch anyways.

Going to check out the new episode of True Detective tonight when I get home from work, if it's up yet
