true meaning of survival

The funniest part of what you said was. We grabbed a jeep and got away for a couple of hours and went into town. We found a place (like a YMCA or something). For a couple of bucks we were allowed to take a hot shower and then we went for a swim in the heated, at least it sure felt warm, indoor pool. Woudn't you know that a girls high school swim team, maybe it was a diving team because they were using the the diving board was there also. That was 30 years ago and I can still remember what some of those girls looked like. ;) I was stationed in southern Germany where many of the women looked like plow horses. The trip to Northern Germany suprised me because many of the women there were stunning.

Lucky bastards! Stuff like that never happens to me. In my case, it seems to be that after spending an absurdly long time in some backwoods with a bunch of guys speaking in military lingo the first women I see upon returning to human civilization always look like they could be survivors from the Punic Wars. :(

My most important piece of survival equipment. I take mine everywhere and can't remember once forgetting it somewhere.

I have forgotten mine a time or two, mostly in the presence of lovely females....

Unfortunately my secondary brain (lower down) is not that smart. :o

Good OP, but I would still recommend getting the F1. Great knife for the money and will probably outperform any of the $200 and up knives. Basically anything after the $250 mark is purely going to the name brand or the maker. Really, it doesn't cost that much money in materials to make a knife. I'm not saying that it is wrong to buy or want to buy an expensive knife, just that (like some people said) it is not a necessity to "properly survive" in the great outdoors.

I won't lie, I would love to buy a busse, I just don't have the money right now. The $500 bucks would pay for my books this year in college!!! Maybe after college, but not right now. Just about two years ago I still used my Gerber knives as if they were the heavenly blades bestowed upon man, then I learned about good and GREAT knives. The Gerbers never let me down, but for a few more dollars I was gifted with my first "real" knife brand, Benchmade. My Benchmade Griptilian was what made me really get into the whole knife "thing" in a serious way.

*getting off track*.....I would still recommend that you get the Fallkniven F1. It can't be beat in value for the cost. I'm done ranting, J.:D

ps. for more input on my first knife, check out the General knife discussion for "Do you remember your First..."
