'True' mirror polish...by hand. Possible??

I’ve read that a sheet of plain copy paper makes a good final step. It’s supposed to be the high clay content in the bright white paper that makes it work.

Having parroted that info, you’ll know you’re there when the blade reflects black as black.

Sooo...thats what I call it..."black". The micro-scratches stop scattering light back to your eye. That's my goal, but I'm so very close now. I started hand-rubbing the blade with 100,000 grit diamond paste, on a damp cotton patch, and noticed the haze start to fade after a few seconds. Here is the blade. This doesn't show the haze (or lack of) but mainly the mirroring im working on. This blade is not hollow-ground.
