I ground with my homemade work rest that resembles the Tru-Tilt. All I can say at this point is, WOW, what a difference it's made. Now my steel has an even and exact grind/angle. No more icosidodecagon looking bevels. I have 3 different size wheels on the way, looking forward to some hollow grinds as well.

I made one from a plate of 1/2" aluminum. It is really useful for many things.
I built one out of steel. It works really well. I've thought the aluminum plate would be awesome. Then you could use a magnet to hold the blade. Nowadays I only grind in the original bevel with tilt table or jig and finish free hand with VSD used as your best friend.

It is a busy and crazy week. I'm hosting a BBQ for the board of The Academy of Music this afternoon. Then we pack and head to MD for a break, and then back to do the 4th picnic with family. I'll try and get a photo before I leave, but if not, I'll do it for sure when I get back.
