Trying out Kershaw for the first time. Two Incoming.

Love the Chill so much I got two of them. One in the pocket right now, has been for 4 years. Less than 2 ounces, less than 1/4" thick, full skeletonized liners, under $20. What's not to like?

I would like to get a custom one with better steel the same size, (perhaps a slightly stronger detent) no matter the cost.

What you need is the ZT 0600. Dont know about the size difference though.

I was pleasantly surprised when my Thermite arrived. It’s currently occupying my pocket as I type.

The knife is dangerous tip down as the thumb studs actually catch on my pocket.
Opinions do vary, but this sounds very weird to me (to not say BS). I am actually one of the few knife nuts who carries solely and strictly tip-down, unfortunately. Never in my life a folder opened because thumb-studs caught onto my pocket.

The thumbstud on the lock side sticks out about a quarter inch. It may not be an issue on jeans, but on my almost vertical issue pants I've had it open up a little twice. The stud is placed exactly in line with the retention bend in the pocket clip, which is a bad idea in my opinion. It's fine if you're extra careful, but it's the only knife I've ever owned where it's been an issue.

They are great knives, I have done reviews over the Chill and it is one of the best flippers for under $25 if not the best. Great choices.

How's it working out for ya de-assisted? The only reason I haven't picked one up is because assisted knives don't really float my boat.

The Thermite doesn't have a detent, so if you de-assist it the blade will move freely with no retention. Unless he drilled a detent, I'm guessing he doesn't carry it much as multiple people have learned detentless flippers are a bad, bad, bad idea in the past.

I'd be interested to know how the action is with a detent drilled in combination with the retention model Speedsafe torsion bar. I bet that thing would fire out like a bullet! :D

Hey all, Thanks for your input and help. Received the knives a few days ago now and have been toying with them. one day of carry each so far. both came with great lock up and no blade play at all. as well centering was dead on with both. all in all great knives for double what I paid. the grinds seem only slightly off balance or asymmetrical. This I think is mostly me being very detailed and trying to find flaws. The Chill was just barely capable of cutting hair and paper, while the thermite was a laser out of the box. dropped the chill open on cement first day at work. minor chipping which took about half an hour to fix and now its screaming sharp. takes a great edge, not enough time to figure out edge retention yet but will post a review of both at a later date in another thread for the forum. Overall very pleased with both knives and glad I decided to try Kershaw. Compares well next to my mini grip. The 8cr13 seems to be almost as hard as 154cm from benchmade when sharpening.( had similar dammage from a similar drop at work with the benchmade) I know I know I am careful though I just use my knives every day and don't baby them so things happen. besides why buy a knife if your not going to use it.

Glad to hear you're pretty satisfied with your purchases. KAI makes great products, no doubt about that. From my Cryo to my ZT 0566, the quality and attention to detail is there.
