Trying something different

Had a similar one on a medium sized knife and it was hot spot city

Some handles with these types of textures have very crisp lines separating their facets, which, I agree, are often hotspot nightmares unless one is wearing gloves. A little extra sanding and shaping to round over those lines and corners goes a long way to make that style of handle not only grippy, but also comfortable to hold.

I agree with what David said earlier ... it resembles the texturing that Winkler does and I really like the Winkler's I have with the sculpted grips. 👍

winkler does angled sides and then divots along the spine. Gotta look like something. I’d rather have it feel good than the arbitrary I suppose.

The Primitive Woods shop showed me some patterning and this one was simple enough to use it.

They worked for Winkler and I’m happy to keep the NC look going :)

I like it. It definitely helps on small knives.

It does help :)

Il find a pattern at some point in time possibly but I’m honored the Primitive Woodsman folks felt like sharing some methods with me.

I agree what David Mary said, too much angle and thin edges make a handle uncomfortable, even sharp. I have one that needs to be sanded down. Others I have a just slightly rounded are very good and provided more grip. I have a few Landi knives that are comfortable, and I agree the texturing helps on small fixies. The texturing in on these redsquid2 knives is just right.

The angle I did give it some flow. Need to have some curves :)
It isn’t vesting any hot spots. That’s a key point for me. Has to be adding functionality.
