what do you guys think about this one? i made this from some more of the 1075 that was cut too wide. when i started this one i decided to put a short taper on the right side and a longer taper on the left. its 11 3/4" overall with a 5 3/4" long edge. its scarry shaving sharp as usual.

WOW!!!

Thats amazing!!!

If you made a smaller one it would make a great EDC!!! I like that kind of point for opening boxes and packages.

its 3/16 thick and has a pretty good balance to it. the neoprene handle is 1 1/8" wide but i can cut it down thinner. it has a good grip to it.

yes its convexed. i can send anyone pictures of the edge profile along with other pictures i took. today i done some testing on a test edge i made. i cut a 3/16" brass and 1/8" nickel silver rod in half which didnt hurt the edge. i had the blade clamped edge up in the vice and hit the rods with a hammer. the hammer hit the edge which wasnt hurt by the hammer. i didnt have the edge shaving sharp but it was close. thats the next test, put a shaving sharp edge on and repeat the test.

i thought i would post a few more pictures of the knife. the second test results turned out pretty good. the edge held up well except for when the brass rod fell off in mid hammer swing. the head hit the edge and put a small chip in it. i cut the rod in half and the edge held up well even though the hammer head made contact with the edge but not enough to cause it to chip. brian is going to have fun trying to dull the chopper i made him. (if i can ever get it to him :D).

She Who Must Be Obeyed says that is the best design she has seen for a kitchen knife.
She is a fantastic cook so take it for what it is worth.
You can send it to her and she will give it a proper kitchen workout/review.:D:thumbup:

Richard,Great looking knife:thumbup:...you got some serious skills buddy;)

I'm a big fan of that blade shape & a convex too!Excellent!!

Thanks for the pics:)

P.S. How do the ergos feel?

if you are holding it by the handle or choking up on the blade it feels pretty good. from spine to edge it measures 2 3/8" so your fingers wont hit the board. its not too heavy but heavy enough to chop good without much downward effort. i'm thinking of making a neoprene handle to go over the blade for another handhold. i wont put it on, it will just go with the knife to be attached later.
