Trying to choose, Techno or Tuff?

I have a tuff and would recommend you get the techno first as the break in period I'm sure would be substantially less than the tuff. The tuff comes with an exceptionally strong detent nib and due to the nature of cpm-3v takes quite the break in period to open with one hand.(and I'm a big dude). Don't get me wrong the qc on the tuff is great and it is smooth now, but it really only lessens a little bit since its meant to take a beating. Get the techno and enjoy it now.the tuff will still be around. I hope that helps.

I have pretty big hands, so the "little big knife" category usually ends up just feeling like a tiny knife to me LOL With that said the Techno doesn't appeal to me. I do own the Tuff and i think it is a very slick looking knife. It is very comfortable in the hand and i really like the blade to handle angle. I have used mine enough that i can flick it open now. Just a cool knife all around.

I always go with the bigger.....

I guess it really just depends on your views.
I love how the SNG handles, it feels great in the hand and is a quality knife.
That said, I don't think it has the same amazing quality as my Sebenza when comparing the two and it's the same price.

That said, my Chokwe is on par with many higher quality knives, the same as my Air. I would compare the Chokwe to something twice its price.

I am a Spydie lover though. But I wouldn't say I'm biased either.

I really like the SNG, I just feel I can get the same quality in the Spydie knives.

Random question... do you think the quality of a knife makes it a more useful knife?
Does it matter if the pivot of one knife has tolerances within 0.005" compared to 0.001"?
Does a knife function any different if the waterjet gouges are still visible?
I suppose I don't really know what you mean by "quality".

If you are buying from a user's perspective, I think you should buy the knife that gives you the features you want or need.
(Warranty, construction, ergonomics, blade-steel, materials, size, weight, price, etc.)

I was thinking about this recently, myself. :)

The quality of a knife is a big thing to me when it comes to the price I pay. To me my CRK Large Sebenza was worth every penny and I love it. But when handling and playing with the SNG I didn't feel the quality was there as much. I feel I can get the same quality out of a nice Spyderco and I can pick up Two of the ones I want BNIB for the same price as an SNG BNIB. What I will use and materials are a huge part of a purchase but also I like the quality to be there. I could have a knife with a wiggly blade and machine marks all over it, and it would still work but I wouldn't want that knife is what I'm saying pretty much.

I've decided to pick up the Techno first most likely. And then I may pick up the Southard or Tuff next. I really want to own a flipper Spydie but I also want 3V... this will likely be my next question to you guys haha.

While I love the looks and design and materials of the Tuff, the Techno will likely be carried a little more so I'll shoot for it first. I have large hands as well but I've grown pretty fond of the little-big knives and smaller knives. With a few I just add a lanyard and that can be pretty helpful in grip.

Excellent choice. I've put off looking for a Southard because for now I just don't need one. Just this morning I peeled an apple with the Techno then scraped a sticker off a box without hurting the box - any doubts that it can do delicate slicing will be dispelled when you start using it. Assuming you have any doubts...

well, since now it's a choice of southard or tuff...go southard!

mines on the way and i love it already.

let us know how you like the techno.

:)

I love my Techno. Warning to my SnG. Just thinking that my Southard(arrives Monday) will bridge that gap. I might sell the Techno and SnG. Both barely used. To purchase the new CRK 25!

I think I'll like the Techno and the next I want to get is the Southard. Then the Tuff. I'm not sure on order yet lol.
Patrick, text incoming to you sir.

Techno is on the way! Should be here Monday and I can't wait!!!
I think it will see a lot of pocket time with me and I can't wait to use it.
I then plan to try out the Southard, maybe the Tuff. I'm not sure yet.
But for now, I'm super excited about the Techno!

techno. the Tuff does nothing for me, and while the Techno aint my style, it's got a nice allure to it.

I actually think one would pair up well with my Ti/G10 Military in CPM M4 :p
