Ok well i still can't decide what i want and now i'm asking what fixed blade. Here is my criteria:

1. Blade Length: 3-5 inches

2. Price: 50$ is the maximum right now

3. Handle: I want the handle to have a nice grip that is made of durable material like micarta.

4. Knife must have a guard on it.

5. Steel: Steel is either uncoated stainless or coated carbon.

6. Sheath: I would like the sheath to not be too obtrusive as i plan to EDC this knife. Also must have some sort of belt attachment whether it is a clip or a loop.

7. Uses: This knife will be used for EDC chores such as cutting boxes, mail, etc......

Maybe now i will be able to make up my mind:o

Here are some ideas. All knife pictures are from knifecenter of the internet:

If you don't mind the blade being a little longer then u specified, i would tell you to get a BK7.

Knucks

The Rant is the best of those selections, but you would be better off saving longer and getting something nicer.

The "Schrade" is made by Taylor cutlery now :thumbdn:

How about a Camillus/Becker BK10?

Get a Schrade 152 in good shape on Ebay.Great knife and selling cheap right now.Just make sure it's stamped USA.Arnold

Already got the beckers and they are great knives, but they are a little too bulky for EDC.:)

And the temperance is over the 50$ mark.;)

Spyderco Temperance?

Brother you beat me to the draw. I have to heartily agree with you on that recommendation. The knife has great blade steel in VG-10 and the Tek-Lok sheath is really handy. I have 6 of those and I plan on using most of them. The Temperance is a fixed blade designed solely for function. And believe me it functions really well. I have 2 of them I use constantly in my kitchen. You will not go wrong with Spyderco's fixed blade Temperance:)

What about a Benchmade Rant?

TKC I am utterly ashamed of you  YOu are a Spyder-girl:( What are you doing recommending a non Spyder to this brother in search of his soul and a great fixed blade  Shame, shame, shame>>> you ought to change your name. :o Go wash your mouth out with soap and do 50 finger tip push ups for punishment :D

A G Russell woodswalker. $19.95 with leather hip pocket sheath. As quoted from www.agrussell.com;

"A long time friend, Col. Daniel . . . , suggested that we offer the Woodswalker with a kydex neck sheath. We did, and boy is it hot! I designed this little knife about 25 years ago. It was intended to be a lightweight knife for the casual hunter, out for a morning walk in the woods. As a non-folding pocketknife when carried in the leather hip pocket sheath, it is suitable for quail, squirrel, dove, or rabbit. It also makes a first class steak knife and a super paring knife. The 2-5/16" blade is 8A stainless at 58 Rc. Measures 6" overall and weighs 1.2 oz. Available with black Kydex® neck sheath or original leather hip pocket sheath. Knife made in Japan, sheaths made in U.S.A."

Handle material; wood rucarta
Blade material; AUS 8A
Blade Lenght; 2 5/16"
Overall length; 6"
Rockwell; 57-59

Easy- except for the handle material (wood), you've got 2 great knives from ragweedforge.com to choose from.

Either a #33, which has a... "4 1/8" stainless blade, a single guard, and an unfinished birch handle of about 4 1/4". It's sized for folks with larger hands. $24." This is my favorite!

Or if that's too much and you prefer a double guard, how about the #113-215 , which has a "4 1/4" carbon steel blade with a double guard. The unfinished birch handle is sized for an adult and is about 4 3/8" long. $17."

These are both pretty unobtrusive edc knives which fufill most of you needs for less than $50- heck, for that you could buy both! To make the handle more durable and gripable, buy a bottle of Tru-Oil at Walmart for $5 and apply 3-5 coats, letting it dry fully in between and sanding it before the next coat.

Taking in the fact that you are looking for this fixed blade to be an "EDC", I'll have to also suggest a Spyderco Temperance. The kydex sheath that it comes in is excellent and can even be easily adapted for IWB carry if needed.
