OK I won't tell the crew over that the Spyderco.com Forum this time :D . But get ahold of yourself girl  . You have a reputation to uphold. Haven't you ever used and gotten a Temperance for you collection yet? I thought I had evangelized everyone at the Spyder Forum about the Temperance.

Why even our esteemed and highly respected moderator GLOCKMAN99 even knows the virtues of the FB Temperance. You must tell Doctors about this the next time you go. This could be a symtom of something terrible :p Cure that headache and get the best production fixed blade out there.

Let it be known that in the $50 to $70 price range the Spyderco Temperance is king. and get both the plain edge and serrated. Glockman will back me on that one I'm sure

Yup...The Spyderco Temperance IS an excellent knife, and at $50...You just can't go wrong with that!. I have the plain-edge version, but my (52nd) birthday is coming up on Saturday, and I'd LOVE to have that fully-serrated version to go with it...Hint, hint.:D.:D.).

Don't overlook the Spyderco Moran. It's right at your price range and is a great EDC size, as well as just being a totally awesome design for comfort and sheer cutting ability.

Well Brother my first choice would have been the Temperance Fixed blade model but I can't say one bad thing about the MORAN Design. I have a Spyderco Moran myself. Mine is the FB02 whereas the one in your photo is the FB01. Both are really great knives. The bottom line is that Spyderco's fixed blades are very reasonably priced and very ergonomically functional at the same time. Their fixed blades should be the man's first consideration for sure. I won't argue your choice. That is truly an "either/or" situation.

How comfortable is the handle on the temperance? Also how durable do you think it is? And is the sheath strong enough to be able to retain the knife if carried horizontally on the belt?:)

Very comfortable handle, IMO.
By Durable, depends on what you mean- you won't be doing any prying with it, but the blade isn't going to fall off.
It is a great slicer, and is also available in full serrated.

Sheaths kind of vary, but I have carried mine inverted.

Does one truely need a 5" blade, guard, and grippy micarta handle for cutting open mail?
