Trying to decide on a Kuhkri

I just want one, no two, strictly for slaying zombies. I saw it in a movie once. :D

But in all seriousness, thank you @shortwinger for your awesome response, I learned some new stuff today. I have never had a hugely keen interest in kukri knives, other than the popular cultural and historical significance, so my knowledge is sorely lacking. It is interesting to note the various styles and what their purposes entail.

I got bit by the Kukri bug a while back and have bought a few since then. I really like the Panawals which are full tang and pinned. The raw Panawals have the blackened blades and are supposed to have a better edge because of no polishing which heats up the blade losing some of its temper.

I second this option, as all my Kukri House blades have been satisfactory in both aesthetics and performance.
The three have different roles and very different weights, but it's hard not to find a variation of this extraordinary tool that suits your needs.

Many styles, many roles. I recommend getting the feel of an original Nepalese Kukri and appreciate the work behind them. Below are my three little folks, L to R:

12 inch, 3 Chirra ("fullers") heavy cutting beast, two and a half pounds of thick smashing power. Surprisingly good soft temper, a very unwieldy but brutal monster for strong arms.

~10 inch combat Nepalese Army issue kukri, thick and short but not heavy and incredibly easy and quick to maneuver, hits hard, takes the sharpest edge of the three and has the best ergonomics and sheath, 1 and 3/4 pounds of handmade quality

13 inch Panawal combat-oriented kukri, half the thickness of the others, deceivingly fast and a true slicer, cuts weeds, twigs, branches and meat with equal ease and has an amazing reach and speed

I started researching Tora Blades as they have a pretty good reputation. I wonder if anyone on this board has one and can speak of their reputation? https://torablades.com/shop/

Here is the one I was thinking about but it is 200 bones US Dollars for the Tora Mk2 Kukri:

I had two Toras, both gotten on the secondary market.
One had a bad enough twist in the blade that I had to straighten it (nearly ripped my post vise off the wall doing it) and the other one I had to reharden the edge before it was really good for anything. Get a Bonecutter from Pradip (Gk Khukuri on BF, I believe). They're heavy but his geometry and HT are pretty amazing. I've beaten the snot out of mine and haven't sharpened it yet (and I don't use a lot of blades I didn't make, except for a couple Beckers and my Fred Perrin)

Just noticed the KaBar Kukri is on two episodes of Naked and Afraid this past week. One on the regular show and one in use on the XL show :)

Wow, thanks for posting that. I almost was getting ready to pull the trigger. Tora Blades have a Facebook page which I just joined and they all speak so highly of this company's product. I'll pass on them and see what Zombie Tools blades I want next as they make all my favorites; knives, axes and swords. ;) Won't be anytime soon as I just bought a Becker BK15 on eBay and that my friend was not a cheap blade but it will get used as my main hunting knife this fall. Time to retire the Bucks I have been using for years. :(
