Trying to Decide Which Chris Reeve Knife To Start With

TaDaa. I talked to Angela at Chris Reeve Knives. She told me that she thought the Sebenza 21 Large with the Micarta Inlay would be the easiest to open(no quick flicks, please) and grip. The next thing she said was awesome. If I ordered the Insingo version, I could also send the knife to them and for $135, they will custom fit the standard 21 blade. The reverse is not true. I then phoned True North Knives, talked to Neal (who was easy and great to talk to) ordered the knife (double silver thumb stub version) and it will arrive tomorrow. Phew! I'm certain he doesn't do this regularly, but as a first time customer, he threw in the shipping. Thank you Neal. And thanks to all of you for helping me.

So I actually will get two CRKs

Congrats brother on your first CRK. Welcome to the family (Addiction)

Please post some pics when she arrives.

Congrats and good idea of sending it in for an additional blade. I tried to go the other way around (get an insingo blade for my large 21) and was turned down :(. Maybe someday they will do it for me. In the end it's their call but why go one way and not the other??

Cool! I never knew they would fit a standard blade to an Insingo frame, so one could have both.

That's awesome. I already have a left-handed regular micarta 21, and a right-handed regular micarta Insingo. I'm going to get a regular blade fitted for it, and then I'll have CRK "bookends" those times I want it, and can switch back to the Insingo in 5 minutes.

Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

:D What if you want both at the same time? I'm sure you will enjoy that dual blade setup. I wonder if a tanto blade could be fitted also..

Cigarrodog

Congratulations! Don't knock the delivery guy down when he rings your doorbell :)

Let us know how you like it.

Thanks all. Will post pics. I asked Angela and they will only sell the regular blade(only) if you have the Insingo. I was floating on a cloud at that point and didn't want to discuss logic. It takes about three weeks to fit it to your knife. I assure you it will be three weeks before I send it. Oh Man!

And without further ado...

First impressions are that it met all my expectations. Lord help me, if after all the time spent in researching, that it didn't.
It looks beautiful and with the micarta inlay, it feels soft and secure. If I wanted a quick flicking opener, this isn't it. That would be my PM2. Instead, I got(as expected), a smooth, sure, silky opening and closing with a wonderful metallic clinking sound that feels precise. The size is right for my hand. Love the the silver double thumb studs. This CRK is my first Grail. Thanks all.

Large 21 Micarta with double thumbstuds. I just bought mine (well it only came with one thumbstud but it is at the spa right now getting the other). It is the only CRK I own and plan on owning. I love it.

Congrats man. It's a beautiful knife. What you should do now is spend so quality time taking it apart. If you love it now you'll love it even more then.

Great idea. I'm definitely taking it apart and definitely shipping the pieces to CRK when I mess up. It will be going there any way for the regular blade, so I've got nothing to lose. Even bought a Sharpmaker, which btw, I opened up with the Sebenza. So easy and smooth. I can't say thank you all enough. On to the next CRK.

Nice! It looks great. I found that my 21 became smother (faster to open) after I took it apart for a little TLC.

And without further ado...
