Trying to decide

Just returned an email to Guyon, and will be receiving a sterile HRLM soon. Again, all of the input is greatly appreciated.

DWRW, you are correct about the in between length- it would not make sense. I'll probably leave the knife "as is", at least for now.

Met Jason (Guyon) today, and picked up my first Rat in person- a sterile HRLM. We talked for a bit and he showed me a few other Rats, Busses and sheaths- you know, the kind of stuff that addictions are made of (red meaner street maybe?). Knife has more heft to it than I realized, there is no mistaking that this knife can take pretty much anything I am ever likely to toss at it. Edge seems a bit thicker than what I'm used to, but it is a convex grind. Typically use a sharpmaker on my other knives, may have to try my hand at the mousepad/sandpaper technique (have a bunch of 320, 400, and 2000 grit paper in the basement). If that doesn't work, I don't suppose it's a mortal sin to put the standard sharpmaker bevels on it. Sheath-wise. am torn between leather and kydex- leaning towards one of the standard production models from armoralleather. Not real interested in having to sending the knife out for fitting, hoping they have a patterned sheath for it.

The knives that interest me the most are the HRLM, Scrapper 4, Ratmandu, possibly a meaner street.

Chris, it was a pleasure meeting you. I wish I'd seen this thread earlier. I have the four knives you mention, and in addition to the Ratmandu and Badgers I took along, I could have also grabbed a SS4 and a Meaner. If you want to take a look at another model some time, just give me a shout.

A woodcraft knife in which you might be interested is being discussed over in the Busse forum. However, it's just in the "glimmer in Jerry Busse's eye" stage and probably won't be seen for a long while.
