Always trying to figure out a way to talk more about CRKs. So I came up with this "CRK Collector's Model"

C - You are the type who likes to Call and order a knife that is readily available today to be used and not put into a safe or pelican case.
R - You are the type who wants to buy Rare or harder to find CRKs. Annual LE's, Guild, Numbered and non-numbered P's, discontinued damascus, etc.
K - You are the type who is Kicking themselves for not getting into the game sooner who seek out the virtually unobtainable.

I actually had 5 levels to begin with, but then I wanted the acronym to be CRK.
Anyone have a different model to share?

Well I guess I'm an R and this week it's the numbered one's. Project 1 #158 and LDC9 #33 in the house, just received these.

LOL!!! I have another phrase to the "YKYASW" question: . . . when you develop use and thought models for CRK acquisition behavior! I think this deserves a multi-variable model of comparable complexity to Myers-Briggs. Having said that, given the model you propose, I'm probably an sold R with 2nd order K tendencies. :)

Thanks you two for participating, you know I just wanted to have something CRK to talk about.
Some folks likely think I'm off my rocker, but at least I have a CRK walking stick to help me get back up :D
I'm a solid R as well, and always hoping to land a "K".....but dabble in the readily available more often than I care or should admit.

Good one lisantica. I somehow fit into all three categories: have current production users, collect rare ones, and kick myself for not buying more earlier on.

Definetly a "C" person here.
I like to aquire what I consider beautiful knives to be my personal companions, but I also intend for them to earn their keep, at least at some future time and in their turn.
That's asking a lot of a companion. Especially a beautiful one. But I do believe all my CRK's can handle the requirements very well. ;)

I'm probably a C, however that may change when my first decorated Sebenza rolls in early next week. May be to fearful of scratching it to put it to use.

I'm a C I guess. I carry and use my Sebenza. Now, having said that....I have several CRK's and can't possibly have them all in rotation at all times. Usually it's a small 21 or a small classic with micarta.
But I have the Wilson Combat small, Umnum, couple of regulars and a few large 21s that come out from time to time.

Seeing lots of "C"s being posted and thank goodness for you all! I suppose you're the ones who keep the business flowing, yay!

I was an R about 7 years ago. I told someone I had a Sebenza a long time ago but couldn’t remember which version so I went into my old posts here on the BF and realized I had 4 Sebenzas at one time... HOW THE HELL DID I PUT THAT OUT OF MY BRAIN? It’s like I blocked out an entire section of my knife collecting life lol... The scenario was that I stopped buying knives for 7 years and just kept a non CRK for use after my ex took all my knives years ago... Now 7 years later I bought a CRK fixed blade (pro soldier) for user purposes only and don’t feel like being a collector... So I went from being a R to a C by way of delusion... :p

USA? Your ex took....how the hell did that happen? Sub catagory of "s" supposedly owned at one time, regret losing. :)

Good topic.
I guess I'm a CRK type.
There are some I use, some rare ones and of course some I kick myself for not buying them when I had the chance.
i.e. the Mnandi with giraffe bone inlay

I'm a C for sure, all my knives are in the rotation. Some see more than others, but they all see some pocket time.

I consider myself a full blown CRK:)

Key word in the "R" group is "wants"

Thanks all for more contributions!
I'm happy to report, I dabbled in the "C" category today and have a new one coming!
