Trying to find a decent G10 folder without a liner lock.

It seems to be getting harder to find a good G10 folder these days.

I think the 2.95" blade knives are all too small and the 3.9"+ knives are too large.

I'm looking for a nice G10 handled folder with a blade around 3"-3.5". I don't want a liner lock.

So far the only things that come to my mind are these knives.

BM 710 - too big
BM 520 - nice knife but aluminum hanldes
BM 14210 - really nice but too small

Can't seem to find anything but the Paramilitary. I don't own any Spyderco's and I'm considering the Para. It's got nice looking G10 scales and a good looking blade.

Is it really that hard to find a medium G10 folder without a liner lock?

Joe
I picked up a discontinued BM 732 Ares, very compact but not too small, nice sculpted g10 scales and it's an axis lock.

Do a search, you might be able to find one somewhere.

Manix is too big. I've held one before and it's just way too thick and too long for me.

Blade-tech makes some excellent G10 folders.
I own a para which is one heck of a knife, but I have been
carrying a blade-tech Ganyana as an EDC for about a month now
and loving it. Great little blade, well made.

Joe, you really can't go wrong with the Para. I don't have a Chinook II but I hear great things, might wanna look into it.

Then see if the if the Mini-Manix fits your bill.

Isn't the Mini-Manix still really big compared to most folders? Bigger than a 710?

The mini is a pretty beefy knife still, but I've never handled a 710 (sad I know) and I believe the 710 might weigh less. However the mini's still shorter than both the 710 and the manix--actually Joe thinks the 710 is too big, but in what dimension im not sure. Anyway I thought it would be worth a mention considering it fits within his criteria.

I believe they made a mini 710. It might fit the bill.

Was thinkin bout it and I actually think they were aluminum handles on the mini.

The Benchmade 721 (Bowie blade) or 722 (Tanto) would do the trick. G10 scales over thick, nested steel liners, Axis lock, & 3.25 inch, 154CM blades.

If Frame-locks work for you, Emerson HD-7 or Strider SnG. Both have 3.5 inch or under blade lengths (3.25 on the EKI HD-7), one side is grippy-as-heck G10, good blade steel (Strider=S30V, EKI=154CM), the other side is a thick slab of Titanium (locking side), and decent ergos.

Good luck,
3G

The Spyderco Ocelot. One of my all time favorite folders.

Wow, I didn't expect this many replies. :) Thanks.

I'm thinking of trying to get a 732 Ares from somewhere if I can.

And yes, the Mini-Manix is still huge. I'm not sure why they didn't size it down about another 1/2" or so.
