I am more into butterfly knives but for EDC it would be nice to have a knife people dont call the police over. i am looking in the 100-150 price range. im not into fixed blades because im 15, i don't really have a use for a fixed blade. But i still have my friends and family always asking to borrow knives and they freak out when i pull out my benchmade 42.
all help would be appreciated.
thank you

I would suggest that you look at something from Spyderco.

I have seen some of their knives and like the wave feature as well as Emerson knives but i dont see the use of the hole in spyderco knives. Could you explain it?

You put your thumb into the hole to open the knife.

The Spyderco Delica is a great people friendly knife for around $50. to $60.
Not as pretty as the Fallkniven P's, but just as better!!

PS. Try, KnifeSupply.com for the BEST prices.

Yea man! Spyderco invented the hole in the blade and the pocket clip on the knife! The hole is so you open the knife with only one hand in case the other is tied up holding the item to be cut! Where have ya been man? Lol! And yes,, most any Spyderco would be highly recomended as an edc. Let us know what ya decide on ok? ,,,VWB.

i knew it was to open the blade but i dont know why they dont just use a simple thumb stud. Im thinking about the Delica but i don't really like the lock.

The Delica IS an excellent knife. Try it, I thnk you WILL really like the knife.

How about a Benchmade Mini Grip or even better a 940? The axis lock is real smooth and easy to open and close. If you dont want a pocket clip then how about the A G Russell Featherlite folder. It is real nice to carry in the pocket and has a neat lock. Good Luck! Kevin :)

Well, the "hole" is more positive in the sense it not easy to miss. The thumb just lays perfectly in the hole and rotates perfectly in it as the blade is pushed open. Thumb studs are easily missed when first attempting to place the thumb on it and often if the knife has a stiff action the thumb comes off the stud while forcing the blade through the rotation. IMHO the "hole" is the best of the best as far as one handed opening systems are concerned. The reason a lot of companies use thumb studs is they dont want to have to pay royalties to Spyderco since they patented the "hole" feature or they (other companies) most all would use holes in their blades like Spyderco does.,,,VWB.

Maybe something from Victorinox. A 111 mm model may work for you. Others that may do: Benchmade Mini-Grip, Spyderco Delica, Benchmade 707.

Because the hole is better, at least it is for me. Stud is ok too though :)

I agree with Ikarus.
Besides that, a hole reduces weight, is inherently right or left handed, and personally, I would just as soon not have anything protruding 90 degrees from the blade. (even though I've never had a problem with thumbstuds)

(And there's also the Freud'ian thing about putting your finger in a hole!) :D

PS. The lock is about as good as they come.

Delicas are great, but consider the Caly 3 as well. Also, I'm a big fan of the Benchmade Osbourne 943.
