trying to find good EDC

Delicas are great, but consider the Caly 3 as well. Also, I'm a big fan of the Benchmade Osbourne 943.

The Caly 3 has PHENOMINAL ergos. I have pretty big hands for my size, and I really like how the handle fills them out securely.

Plus, you can hold the knife like a fencing foil in a fully secure grip. Meaning, you can direct the blade with your thumb and forefinger. The rest of your hand is just there to hold onto the knife.

This means that while you won't be parrying and doing fencing thrusts with it anytime soon, a huge degree of blade control is afforded by the grip. You can loosen your lower three fingers, guide the blade to start a cut, and wrap your hand around the handle again to power through whatever you're cutting.

Really, really well-designed and well thought-out knife.

Whoops! There I go again, just offering my favorites without reading the first post thoroughly enough! :D

It's made by Spyderco, and can be had for about $100-$120.00 online. I wouldn't recommend it as a first knife, only because it's a little on the expensive side, and I think you'd be better off trying out a few cheaper knives to find out what you like, first.

Kershaw has a lot of really nice folders in the $30.00 range. That way, if you lose it or it gets stolen, you won't be crushed, and you can get several knives of different types to try out before you get into the more expensive ones.

You also might consider getting a Benchmade Griptilian or Spyderco Delica, available for about $60.00

oh, thanks. It's ok with the price because I will be working with my dad for a week and getting about $800. Last year I was setting up the computers and had to cut the tape on the boxes, i had 3 balisongs on me and was working with two other people so i offered them a knife but once they saw it they flipped out. I have experience with butterfly knives but want some good quality folders for times like those. im thinking about the kershaw leek, spyderco delica or endura, benchmade griptilian or the osborne.
You can probably see that once i see a knife i like i want it and they all seem very good.

Because the hole is better, at least it is for me. Stud is ok too though :)

+2

:D

I like the hole better. But I'm used to having a Spyderco in my pocket. I also second the Delica and/or Endura.

I have an Endura and really like it. I have a BM 710 on the way and that's going to take some getting used too. ;)

Be careful where you're carrying those things. They're illegal in many states.

yes, I found out they were illegal when a guy at a shady knife shop in california (i live in arizona so i didn't know) asked to see it when i asked if he had any like it. he then put the knife in his pocket and said I couldn't do anything about it because they are illegal. I lost $50 that way

I would look real hard at a Spyderco Para-Military or a BM Ritter Grip. Both are fine knives.

If that's the case and you want to go from a bali-song to an equally quality folder, I say go for the Caly 3, or any of the other knives you have listed. It's your cash, go for the one you like the looks of the most, and you won't regret it. They're all equally high-quality knives.

Mcusta knives are pretty highly regarded on this board. I'm going to get around to getting one myself, someday :D

thank you, but because the blade is damascus is it still ok for EDC? I usually hear mixed feelings. Some people say no because of how beautiful the blade is and others say it was made to be used and holds a great edge

It's a fine knife. Use it if you want or just look at it. It's just a matter of personal choice. Such is the nature of knives! :)

I've never owned a Mcusta, but I would be worried about breaking that fine a tip, during hard use. For looks and durability, I'd go with a Fallkniven P over the Mcusta.

But if you really want a good hard working knife, I am pretty sure you'll be happier with a Delica or Endura.
I personally prefer the Endura, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, the Delica is less likely to freak other people out.
