My son in law and I saw the knives in the photo at the Smoky Mountain Knife Works Sevierville, TN. They are all auto-open and unlawful to carry in TN. The owner thinks the maker is from North Carolina, maybe Western NC. Need to find the maker to see if he has made knives identical to the one at the very top except without the spring opener.

If you recognize the style and/or know how to find the maker please let me know. Can't get the image to post so go to this link please. http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=31077507&id=1397054771

They look a lot like kit knives with jeweling on the blade and frame. Look at the button lock knives at Knifekits.com. You could always buy the knife and remove the spring. It's probably just a coil spring around the pivot. THe springs can be purchased from some of the supply dealers to convert button locks to autos.

Yup, Very similar to knife kits DDR3-BL, but not quite the same. I have bought 5 of them and every once in a while make a damascus blade and dolled it up with a back bar and nice scales. Knife kits model comes with a thumbstud that works well without the spring. As Chip said it would be easy to leave out or remove the spring to kill the auto part. All you need to assemble one is T-6 and a T-8 tork bits for the screws. They have some premade wood scales available, if you want the jigged bone you would need to buy some and a small step drill, then fit them. Their lock is plastic, so I machined a piece of stainless and cut it into pieces to replace their lock. Just needs a little filing to finish. If you want a lock piece let me know.
