Trying to find more information on knife maker

I haven't hunted in years, but the Twister that I saw from a page posted by hardedgeknives is more of a utility/defense knife, it has a wicked long tip.

Now, just about any knife can be used to field dress deer and elk, but isn't the Twister a bit pointy for being optimally used in that application?

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I actually prefer that long tip to gut game. I can use just the tip to open up the deer or elk without going to deep and worrying about hitting the stomach. Others may disagree with me. That is just my personal preference.

Don is legit. He used to make knives out of Idaho. I haven't logged on here in a long time and just read this posting. I have some knives from him and am sure I can find his old website. I'll post again when I find it tonight.

These are some of his knives I own. I also own a few of his Damascus knives. They are fantastically made knives and the sharpest when delivered of any knife I own. I don't believe my Damascus knives have a maker mark, but the spring steel knives do.
I am currently carry one of his Damascus knives when hunting. I'll look for the old website when I get home tonight.

The bone handled knife under the pistol.

Edit....I just found a picture of knife above with his mark on the blade. Long Knives

Cool thanks for the info. I actually bought a few of his 440c knives and one of his 5160 hunting knives. They all the makers mark "LK" on them except for the Damascus one I bought from him.

My Damascus knives are not marked as well. He used to own what I remember as Idaho Custom Knives. I had communication with him regarding his knives a few years ago. I looked and the website is now gone. He used to have the knives listed out and they sold for double or more of what you paid him now. I think his workmanship is fantastic. I have never had a knife delivered with a sharper blade. He retired and moved to NJ and was selling out the knives he had stored. They are not Pakistani garbage knives. I remember he was just selling them at around his cost.....not todays cost.....but back when he retired which was many years ago. If you see his knives I wouldn't hesitate in buying one. He was a big Elk hunter and the Damascus hunting blades he made are designed well for big hands, cold weather, and large animals.

I know this response is incredibly late. However, if it helps someone it's worth the effort. I have two of his damascus blades. When I bought them from a private party they stated there was no M.M. on either blade. Got a great price because of this. Well..........a few years later, around 2020, I was looking at them again and I found that if I held the blade at the right angle, there is a LK mark that appears on the right side of the blade. It's almost ghost like. I was pleased as heck to find this almost hidden makers mark on both blades. Although I still own the knives, I'm unable to try to capture a photo of the mark because I moved to a foreign country and the knives are at my son's home. Probably not an issue because this posting is so old.

Still pretty cool...........Have that son do some photography......😉...............One can wish eh!!!

I can't believe that I actually found one photo of the two Longknives that I own. There is actually a makers mark (LK) on the right side of the blades. Just about impossible to see unless viewed from the right angle and good lighting. I won't be able to convince my son to locate and try to photograph the makers mark. The knives are in with a couple containers with about 125 knives. Next year I think I will have to return to the U.S. for a few weeks and have a big knife sale. I don't recall exactly what I paid for the pair but it was under $200 for sure.
